My adapter won’t connect

Is it Bluetooth LE?

iPhones can only connect to OBD-II adapters that use Bluetooth LE (4.0 or later). Many cheap ELM327 adapters use “Classic” Bluetooth and will never appear on an iPhone, whatever app you use. Wi-Fi adapters are not supported.

Don’t pair it in the iPhone’s Settings

Bluetooth LE adapters connect from inside the app, not from Settings → Bluetooth. Open the Adapter tab, turn the ignition on, and pick the adapter from the list.

Still nothing?

Unplug the adapter for ten seconds and plug it back in, make sure it is pushed fully into the socket (usually under the dashboard, near the steering column), and close any other OBD app that may be holding the connection.

“ECU is not responding”

The adapter is connected but the car did not answer. Turn the ignition on (engine running or key in the “on” position), check the adapter is seated fully, and try again. Some cars only answer some requests: a screen that says the car does not support a reading is telling you about the car, not a fault in the app.

What’s free, and what the unlock adds

Every diagnostic function and the whole Timer are free, for good. The one-off unlock adds your own cluster layouts, the premade styles, the styled gauges, faces, colours and themes, and R-Cam.

Restore a purchase

On a new phone or after reinstalling, the unlock usually comes back on its own. If it doesn’t, open Settings → Unlock → Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with.

Refunds

Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Erasing codes

Erasing trouble codes also resets the car’s readiness monitors, and a car can fail an emissions test until they complete again after some driving. The app warns you before every erase.
